Description:
A monk sits in his chamber studying the gospels from an open book in his hand and one on a low bench that also has another book and a scroll on it. Behind him, in the corner, is a large candle. There is a small table with an open book and a candle on it. There are more scrolls and another book on the floor between the bench and table. A broom leans on the wall nearest the camera.
Notes:
This is 9.6cm x 9.6 cm x 9.6 cm diorama. Like Supplication (above), I created this as a gift for my stepdad. The sleeping pallet is made from clay and is baked, however it is really layered with mattress, sheet and a pillow. Then I made a brown blanket to cover the whole thing. The scrolls are clay, rolled and baked and then tied with red thread. The monk on the stool with the book in his hand is part of a collection of five monks that I purchased. Everything else was made with clay and various other materials.
In the first image, the canlde was on the floor. This one reflects the final position of the little canlde on the table:
